Hard times, keeping up the faith

HARD TIMES, KEEPING UP THE FAITH

Servants of Jesus Christ in Ecuador and all around the world

After returning to Ecuador, things have been so difficult. We tend to think that once we enter our land, our own country, everything will be happiness, fullness, joy, and so on because we will be with our family, friends, and church partners. However, God had other plans for us.

(Diana) got pregnant in Madagascar, and the baby was developing during stressful times. In August and September, we were in Antananarivo doing paperwork (transit visas) that Jean needed to go through some countries just for layovers, and we didn't know about the baby. During those times, we used to walk a lot looking for and talking to different Embassies to get the permit.

We got to Ecuador at the end of October and after two weeks of arriving (November), we saw the doctor and unfortunately, our baby was not growing within me. That news was shocking for us. We were extremely sad and we still are now. The next day that I received the sad news about my baby, I got bell's palsy on the left side of my face. It was terrible, crazy things were happening with us and we didn't know how to face it. But we thank God and his Holy Spirit because He has been our strong tower where to go and hide. We cry out every day for healing in and out.

Our baby

Since November, I'm doing facial therapy to recover from the bell's palsy but it's still hard. My face is not the same, drooling from one side of my mouth, difficulty closing one eyelid, my right side pulls my left side and it's painful. But, on the other side of this situation, I'm running every day to meet my Saviour, my faith has increased but it hasn't been easy. There are times that I feel so sad that I think that even my prayers are not heard.

We are grateful that our family has been with us all this time. Feeling and having their emotional support has been crucial for us. Especially for me (Diana), having my mom by my side has been important and comforting.

Having family time

I'm so sorry for writing this newsletter so late but I think I'm no late for asking for your prayers for my health and our hearts. We need them.
